An exhibition of original artwork by world famous illustrator and Electric Palace patron Ralph Steadman. Steadman is perhaps best known for his work with American author Hunter S. Thompson. The show is a collection of works used to illustrate the "PsychoGeography" articles written by Will Self for the Independent over a five year period.
'My practice as a painter changed dramatically 18 months ago, where I departed from abstraction to the cinematic paintings, bringing together two passions, that of painting and film. I have particularly been interested in the films by Sergio Leone, who was influenced by painters such as Rembrandt and Vermeer, which continues with a practice of filmmakers being influenced by painters and painters being influenced by film.
Photographer Dave Young presents recent work including his Season project with a wry look at Royal Ascot, Henley Regatta, Chelsea Flower Show, Glyndebourne and Polo events; there may be a credit crunch but the English summer social season continues unabated and the champagne corks continue to pop.
