Newsies is a Disney Musical inspired by the American newspaper strike of 1899. Jack Kelly (with the help of his best friend Crutchie, new paper seller Davey, News reporter Katherine and gang of Newsboys) form a union and organise a strike against the greedy publisher of The New York World, Joseph Pulitzer. The musical is all about friendship, comradery and standing up against injustice, and provides high energy musical numbers, complex and engaging characters, and a heartwarming story about the incredible things that can happen when people stand together.

About BYP:
Bridport Young Performers (BYP) is a youth theatre group for performers aged 25 and under. We offer opportunities throughout the year in the arts, including workshops, trips, fundraising, community events and – of course – our annual show. We aim to support our members in their development as performers and people, with our youth production team and cast of over 50 members. Past productions from our company include production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and ‘The Addams Family’, with ‘Newsies’ being our 10th musical production, our most ambitious show yet!
