Joanna Cooke kicks off this intimate series of #souldivas events in the foyer at Electric Palace with a powerhouse set of jazzy soul. Big voice, raw emotion, gritty grooves — this is woman has soul in her veins!
This event is part of Bridport-Birth of the Cool, a month–long festival of jazz, sponsored by Clocktower Records and Jazz Jurassica.
Sassy soul singer Joanna Cooke serves up jazzy versions of her favourite tracks from the Jacksons, Stevie Wonder, Amy Winehouse and Aretha Franklin as well as jazz classics from Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald. Expect soulful vocals, playful improvisation, and solos from guitarist Nathan, plus a few originals to spice things up.
Spend an evening with this rising star. Her emotionally charged vocals have earned her millions of streams and airplay on Radio 1. She’s also played alongside Tom Jones, Paloma Faith, Rag & Bone Man, Jess Glynne, and Jamiroquai’s Matt Johnson.
“Rising star soul/jazz singer with a blues heart. A name to watch’’ Jon Newey, Jazzwise.
